Genre Specific Anime?

Growing up in a musical household, I love to sing and play piano even though I am not that good at piano lol I get drawn to the musical anime. Ones like Love Live, Your Lie in April, Angel Beats!, and D4DJ First Mix (watched last night) So my question is to you, Have you had a passion growing up drawn you to a specific anime genre?

i'm surprised you didn't mention K-ON! as it's in the genre of music.  It was this anime that showed me what J-Rock was. 🙂

I've always been a fan of science fiction and for about ten years now, magical girls.  While I grew up knowing I wanted to be a computer programmer, that didn't pan out for a career (I know how to do it, but fail at such simple concepts as Object Oriented Programming, and Recursive Functions)  And with Magical Girls, I guess I've always just kind of felt attracted to the Witch-life (which is what many of these shows are based upon).

I completely forgot about K-ON!, Currently trying to catch up on Love Live. I don't know what it is about musical anime that draws me in but I kinda like them.

I also like the sci-fi anime as well. like Gundam and things like that. Gundam SEED had a musical aspect with Lacus Cline being an idol-type person.

Your Lie in April had me indulged in trying to play the violin. That didn't last very long though.. 😛

I played quite a bit of sports growing up from football, baseball, soccer, etc. but sports anime have never been something that I really enjoyed outside of Blue Lock.

I've heard violin is a very difficult instrument to play.  The different hand-arm coordination would trip me up.  That's why I can't play drums.  I can keep a steady beat, there's just too many things to move simultaneously for me.
